Always in the shop!

I have had my S40 for 3 years, and it is in the shop about every three months for something or another. I have already had the transmission replaced, and the car only has 25,000 miles on it. The warranty is about to expire, and I feel I cannot keep this car without a warranty to cover all the expensive fixes. When it runs, it is a perfect car, but it is always in the shop! - 2.0

I have never had a car with so many problems after so few miles: AC, power locks, brakes, airbag, engine. In one year, I have taken this car in for repairs seven times. - 4.0
A seriously fun and quirky car

The Volvo S40 is rather undeniable in its own quirky way. It isn’t particularly fast (at least not in the 2.4 configuration that I own) but it is very nimble and fun to drive. Keep the power band between 3000-5000rpm and the car has good torque with the 5 cylinder producing around 170hp. The steering is precise and the car feels well planted; albeit a front wheel drive car and the limitations that naturally come with. I haven’t had a single issue in the 8 months of ownership and I’m very pleased with the car. Would definitely recommend. My car also has upgraded rims, spoiler, red calipers and sport package. Very sweet ride to boot.
